Physics of the Body
As part of the University of Illinois Department of Physics "Saturday Physics Honor Program" outreach program for high school students, Klaus Schulten presented a lecture titled "Physics of the Body" on Saturday, November 4, 2006. The lecture reviewed how physics is integral to the functioning of the human body:
"Physics reigns in non-living as well as in living nature. The human body is the result of a billion years of evolution that adopted the laws of physics to its advantage as examples from vision, hearing, and skeletal motion will illustrate." |
The lecture included plenty of examples and opportunities for audience interaction amenable to a high school audience. Sample slides are below, and the entire presentation can be accessed by clicking here.
