I've just got VMD running under Suse6.4/Xfree4.0.1 with a voodoo3 using
hardware GL. Performance is very good, apart from when using transparancy,
when the renderer falls back to sofware. I think this is a libGL rather
than an VMD problem.

You will need to get the latest version of Glide from www.3dfx.com before
building X, as the one included with Suse does not work. Otherwise, the
installation is fairly painless.
