Hi Steve,
when you move the file.vmd to another computer, do you also take the
loaded structures with you? The vmd savestates do not encapsulate all of
the loaded structural data (whether or not they should is a point of
some debate in the user/developer community -- it would be convenient,
but horribly complicated and potentially massive for large structures);
they just have the locations of the files that should be loaded and the
set of commands necessary to set up the saved representations and such.
So if you move the structures along as well as the save state, it should
work. If it doesn't, please let us know what error output you receive in
the vmd console.
