You'll probably get lots of suggestions, but I'd nominate matplotlib (a
python module for making these sorts of plots) as at least fulfilling
the flexible and free criteria. Hopefully 2 out of 3 isn't bad. Whether
it is considered easy to use depends on your definition of "easy" and on
personal experience.
