Hi,
  Are you using the 32-bit or 64-bit VMD? Are your NVidia drivers
up to date? Most problems like this are simply driver versions that
are incompatible with the kernel you're running. Have you run any
other OpenGL programs successfully? What does "glxinfo" say?
